I am looking for a simple comparison of "This is what each tool can do and this is how it compares to the others that do the same thing." Something that discribes the functions and rates performance. Can anyone point me to a .doc or a link?------------------ Fear Profits A Man Nothing

I actually had this document already and found it very useful. Unfortunately, it is the only such document I can find. Please do not take offense, but I try to get more than one opinion when I am trying to get my boss to fork over big money for my toys. She likes justifications. "Because I want it" doesn't get me very far, but I digress. For those who have not seen this document, I highly recommend it. http://www.qadownloads.com/ftp/misc/papers/toolcomparison.doc If anyone else can point me to a similar document, I'd be grateful. No worries no offense taken. The reason why I wrote this document is because there was not one available (that I could find anyway). Most covered higher level stuff like planning of tests, pitfalls of test automation, etc which is good but not a tool by tool comparison. I saw a WinRunner/Silk comparison that was good but covered only those tools. Again I may update the one I've done to cover AQTest and others later.------------------

If you are of a mind, a document showing the capabilities of each tool and how well it handles each task compared to other tools would be very useful. That is to say:Source code testing: Mercury Rational and Compuware do this Segue does not. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best): Mercury - 8 Rational - 7 Compuware - 6 This is just an example obviously, but I think you get the picture. ------------------ Fear Profits A Man Nothing

The document does do something similar to that, for the catergories I've chosen. It rates them from 1 - 5. 1 being good 5 being poor.------------------

True. Your document does a wonderful job of tool comparison in the catagories you have chosen. However, I am a bit of a novice as far as tools go and I don't know what tools can do aside from what the propaganda says (which isn't much). I guess what I am looking for is a detailed list of tool capabilities. In addition, each capability would be rated against other tools that are also capable of doing the same thing. Such a document would be invaluable to someone who is uneducated about tools as I am. ------------------ Fear Profits A Man Nothing
