My QA group is looking into automating testing. Our company has a standard tool that we will be using but I was looking for recommendations for books on Automated Testing (not for a specific tool) for use as reference. Has anyone found any one particular book helpful? We are at the beginning stages so we would like something that isn't too complex. Thanks!

I've plugged it more than once, I'll plug it again:

Get yourself Elfreide Dustin's book.

Live it.
Learn it.
Love it.
Bathe in it.

As a non-biased tester, I can personally vouch that Elfriede's book (apologies if name is misspelt!) is very informative and a useful companion for automated testing.

Not that I am saying anyone IS biased...

I actually have and read Dustin's "Automated Software Testing" as well as Fewsters "Software test Automation", but as someone who has incorporated successful automation frameworks at two companies, I say hands down the most useful book was Hayes' "Automation Testing Handbook".

The book has no fluff.
The book gives you a definitive template to build from.
The information can be readily adapted to any envrionment.

Just my 2 cents.
